Position Overview 

This full-time position of Business Risk Intelligence Analyst requires an individual capable of directly supporting the production of client deliverables within the company’s Business Risk Investigations, Research and Analysis unit. The successful applicant is required to comprehend complex regional and global issues in various industries promptly and effectively, all while conducting detailed investigative research and analysis—via a range of open-source and proprietary sources—to identify and understand compliance, regulatory, and reputational risks. Candidates will be requested to complete an analytical test to assess these capabilities.

Job Overview

The Data Scientist will support the Company’s products, sales, data and marketing teams with insights and automation using the Company’s data by using large data sets to find opportunities for product and process optimization and using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action. The position is responsible for the use of data mining/data analysis, building and implementing models, using/creating algorithms and creating/running simulations and machine learning algorithms. They will also temporarily assume the responsibilities of either the Data Quality Controller or Data Scientist when requested by the Head of Data Strategy.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Work with Head of Data Strategy Department and other stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions.
  • Mine and analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and business strategies.
  • Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
  • Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets using Supervised Deep Learning and other Machine Learning techniques.
  • Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, ad targeting and other business outcomes.
  • Coordinate with different functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes.
  • Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.
  • Increase the volume, quality and diversification of company proprietorial data
  • Render more comprehensive and accurate the company’s proprietorial data.
  • Database Cleaning and Mapping
  • Liaise with Software department and Head of Data Strategy Department in order to facilitate the Data Import process.
  • Assist the Head of Data Strategy Department in automating processes by XML mapping and creating rules and algorithms.
  • Assist the Head of Data Strategy Department in Data sourcing, scoring and warehousing.
  • Manage priorities of assigned tasks to ensure deadlines are respected and met.
  • Suggest and make recommendations to streamline, improve and speed up processes.
  • Report to the Head of Data Strategy Department any issues encountered that can help make the process more efficient or enhance the integrity of the new datasets, or make the addition of information to the company database more efficient.
  • Ensure that all documentation is kept confidential and secure.
  • Attend training and meetings as required.
  • Safeguard the intellectual rights and property of the company.
  • Assist the Head of Data Strategy Department in research and development by identifying, proposing and undertaking new projects studies (new ideas, market study, cost and revenue estimation, etc.)
  • Show initiative in identifying new product lines and product enhancement.
  • Assume temporarily the responsibilities and duties of the Data Quality Controller and the Data Quality Researcher as and when required by the Head of Data Strategy Department.
  • Assist in training and onboarding new members of the Data Strategy Department.
  • Assist in creating training modules and in conducting training of the Data Strategy Department.

 

Data Scientist requirements:

  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.
  • A minimum of 2-5 years of experience manipulating data sets and building statistical models, has a degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or another quantitative field, and is familiar with the following software/tools:
    • Coding knowledge and experience with several languages
    • Knowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques: GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, text mining, social network analysis, etc.
    • Experience querying databases and using statistical computer languages: Python, SQL, etc.
    • Experience creating and using advanced machine learning algorithms and statistics: regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, etc.
    • Experience analyzing data from 3rd party providers: Google Analytics, Site Catalyst, Coremetrics, Adwords, Crimson Hexagon, Facebook Insights, etc.
    • Experience with distributed data/computing tools: Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Spark, MySQL, etc.
    • Experience visualizing/presenting data for stakeholders using: Python, Power BI, Tableau, etc.
  • Preferably have been a graduate in an analytics related field.
