SUMMARY OUTLINE OF THE MAIN DUTIES: 

Build a Data Strategy – He/she will liaise with the CDO and CIO to write up a plan for future data projects and priorities and adjust the plan as the database grows and if priorities change in line with the sales pipeline or business direction. 

Source and/or Acquire Data – He/she will identify viable data sources which meet the needs of the business. Oversee and manage cost and implementation of the company’s data acquisition program after taking into consideration 
a) potential revenues and b) cost forecasts. 

Evaluating Information to Determine Compliance with Standards - Keep abreast of data protection laws and regulations and ensure the company’s compliance with applicable laws. Using relevant information and individual judgment he/she will advise CDO whether data transfer protocols or processes comply with current Data Protection Regulations, or Standards.  

Data Management & Governance - He/she will ensure to build a Data Governance Policy which will document the vision for data governance in Cedar Rose and lists the actionable steps to realize that vision, including guidelines to ensure that Cedar Rose data and information assets are managed consistently and used properly in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations. He/she will maintain the company data asset register. This must conform to current ISO27001 guidelines. 

Data Quality & Pipeline - He/she will implement and oversee processes which will be aiming to and relevant to the company’s products and services, reduce data errors, and improve data quality, performance, storage space. He/she will keep accurate records and maintain a data acquisition pipeline document.  

Analytics - He/she will liaise with different departments and clients to determine Analytics initiatives and business development opportunities. 

Team Building – He/she will help recruit and grow the team within different divisions; and lead the data science team, its initiatives and monitor projects. 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Oversee the collection, storage, management, quality, and protection of data 
  • Implement data privacy policies and comply with data protection regulations 
  • Implement and deliver on the data strategy of the business 
  • Help hiring, leading, motivating, and managing technical teams 
  • Prioritize quality deliverables within budget and deadlines. 
  • Ensure alignment between clients’ objectives and the team's performance.

  • Lead ambitious projects in the transformation of the business through the effective collection, processing and activation of advanced data capabilities 
  • Develop in-depth analysis to identify the root cause of a client’s barriers or overall needs and reframe thinking to drive strategy forward 
  • Liaise with in-house and contracted software developers. 
  • Negotiate setting up APIs with public sources and organise acquisition of data on a regular basis. 
  • Oversee data clients’ accounts 
  • Negotiate prices and TATs with report suppliers and ensure that opportunities to receive data by automated processes are optimised. 
  • Responsible for analysing, presenting for recommendations and implementing initiatives to improve accessibility and usability of data 
  • Determine Analytics initiatives and business development opportunities

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Demonstrable and practical experience in the Data and Analytics domain including but not limited to: Data Strategy, Business Intelligence and Analytics, Data Management, Data Modelling, Data Quality, Data Governance, Master Data Management and Metadata Management 
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques 
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with databases (SQL, Python etc.), programming (XML, or ETL frameworks) 
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analysing datasets is an advantage. 
  • Familiarity with various machine learning techniques such as Linear Regression, Random Forests, Neural Networks etc. to analyse multiple sources of structured, semi-structured and unstructured data is desirable. 
  • Data prep and extracting information from a wide variety of sources including quantitative, qualitative and big data sources 
  • Data platforms 
    • Databricks/Azure Synapse (Data Warehouse/Lakehouse architecture)

Job Overview

The Data Scientist will support the Company’s products, sales, data and marketing teams with insights and automation using the Company’s data by using large data sets to find opportunities for product and process optimization and using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action. The position is responsible for the use of data mining/data analysis, building and implementing models, using/creating algorithms and creating/running simulations and machine learning algorithms. They will also temporarily assume the responsibilities of either the Data Quality Controller or Data Scientist when requested by the Head of Data Strategy.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Work with Head of Data Strategy Department and other stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions.
  • Mine and analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and business strategies.
  • Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
  • Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets using Supervised Deep Learning and other Machine Learning techniques.
  • Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, ad targeting and other business outcomes.
  • Coordinate with different functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes.
  • Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.
